Consultation on minimum wage
The Low Pay Commission (LPC) is consulting with employers about the current level of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) ahead of changes in October next year.
The LPC will make its recommendations to the Government on the level of the NMW in February 2008, after taking into account the rise in statutory holiday entitlement which increases in stages from October this year.
It is talking to firms about the effects of the NMW on pay, employment and competitiveness.
The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) says it will use the opportunity to highligh the impact of increased wage costs on retailers.
The consultation ends on 28 September.
