Project aims to boost farmers
A new strategy has been launched to help farmers and growers in Yorkshire and Humberside to reach new markets.
Farexchange aims to exploit the current interest in local food and to help food producers better understand the needs of consumers.
The project, put together by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, will initially focus on farmers producing beef, pork and arable produce.
A Yorkshire Forward spokesman said:
"Farmers and growers need to work closely with their customers and other businesses further along the supply chain to find ways to future-proof their companies by anticipating customer demands."
