Norfolk business owners 'under pressure'

The owners of smaller businesses in Norfolk say their lives are becoming more pressurised and they are struggling against Government red tape.

Those are some of the conclusions of a new survey by chartered accountants and business advisers Larking Gowen.

It discovered that 71% of respondents felt their work was more pressured than five years ago, while 50% were working longer hours.

Despite the advance of technology, 59% said it had not helped to lighten their workload and 93% claimed red tape was strangling them.

On the plus side, 83% said staff numbers had either remained the same or increased and most were optimistic about the coming year, the Eastern Daily Press reported.
