Manchester firms back congestion charge
More than half of businesses quizzed in Manchester say they would support a congestion charge for the city - so long as the money raised was used to improve public transport.
The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce survey found 53% of respondents thought a congestion charge was worth paying if it resulted in clearer roads and more efficient public transport.
However, 42% said they were "dead against" any congestion charge, the Manchester Evening News reported.
The Chamber has a webiste dedicated to the future transport for the city at www.gmfuturetransport.co.uk.
