Education not essential to entrepreneurs

Education is not the way forward if you want to be a successful entrepreneur, a new study has claimed.

The research, by Barclays Local Business, found fewer than half of those it quizzed had a degree and just 11% believed a good education was essential to business success.

It also found 20% of small business owner-managers had no qualifications higher than GCSE level.

The study cites the examples of Gordon Ramsay, Simon Cowell, Dame Anita Roddick, Jacqueline Gold and Sir Richard Branson - graduates of the 'university of life' who have made it big.
