The lobby group said people's lives and businesses were being put on hold because of flooding, and the situation needed to be tackled so lessons could be learned for the future.

The Government has announced a review into the severe weather and is to spend £800 million on flood and coastal defences around the country.

But the FSB said that the politics needed to be taken out of the examination of what went wrong. It wants the review to be independent of the Government, Sky News reported.
