Shoppers make fewer trips but spend more
There is more evidence that consumers are taking fewer trips to the shops but spending more when they do go.
It comes from the British Retail Consortium's (BRC) London Retail Sales Monitor for May, which found footfall was down on a year earlier but sales were up 6.3% in the same period.
Fashion accessories and beauty products sold well but the poor weather put people off from buying clothing and footwear.
