Scotland attracts inward investment
Scottish inward investment projects rose by 90% in 2006, to make it the most active area of the UK outside of London and the South East.
The figures, from Ernst & Young's 2007 European Investment Monitor, showed that Scotland attracted 66 investment projects from overseas, compared with 36 in 2005.
The cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow were considered key reasons for attracting the investment, The Scotsman reported.
The most common areas attracting overseas money to Scotland were financial intermediation, business services, electronics, pharmaceuticals and machinery and equipment.
