Scots lead the way with broadband
Scotland is leading the UK's take-up of broadband, with more than half of those businesses and residents based in outlying areas like Aberdeenshire and Shetland linked up.
The figures, from BT Wholesale, show that the top five places for broadband take up are in Scotland.
A spokesman said:
"Fast internet access is now making a huge contribution to the economic success of Scotland, as businesses find new markets and work more efficiently, and households capitalise on the almost limitless abilities of the internet for education, entertainment and shopping."
There are more than 200 broadband service providers in the UK, making it the most competitive market in the world, and 99% of UK homes and businesses are connected to a broadband-enabled exchange.
