Energy audits to help farmers lower bills

The Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) has come up with a range of energy audit packages which could help farmers reduce their energy bills.

The packages can also help farmers reduce their carbon footprints.

The SAC Energy Efficiency Audit quantifies existing farm energy use, and the SAC on-farm Renewable Energy Assessment looks at the possibilities of farms producing their own renewable energy.

The government has set a target of reducing CO2 emissions by 60% by 2050. At present, the UK is lagging behind other countries in growing crops for renewable energy production, The Scotsman reported.
