Web 2.0 uptake slow with small businesses

A survey by Mediasurface has revealed that 41% of small businesses are unaware of Web 2.0.

The survey, carried out at the recent Internet World exhibition, also revealed that just over a third of businesses updated their websites more than once a week, and more than 61% thought that their website didn't reflect their brand.

Web 2.0 usage is popular among some businesses as it enables them to interact more dynamically with their customers and keep website content fresh.

Andy Peart, Chief Marketing Officer at Mediasurface, said:

"With Web 2.0 increasingly being covered in the media, it was interesting to see that 41% of SMEs surveyed had not heard of it, implying that the message may be getting through to larger businesses but not as efficiently to the smaller business community."
