Pubs go online to spot rogues
Pubs in Gloucester are linking together online as part of a campaign to stamp out alcohol-related crime in the city.
Under the Pubwatch scheme, troublemakers banned from one licensed premises in Gloucester are automatically banned from them all.
The initiative, which has been running for a number of years after being set up by the Licensed Victuallers Association (LVA), is now using the Internet to allow pub owners and door staff to immediately identify troublemakers and keep them out.
An LVA spokesman said:
"For the first time, staff at every Pubwatch pub in the area will be able to see the face of everyone who has been banned."This will enable them to ensure bans are enforced more effectively than ever before and so keep crime and disorder out of their public houses."
