Online sales boom set to continue
Online sales will amount to £78 billion a year by 2010, according to sector analyst the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG).
It predicts that £42 billion will be spent online this year by 26 million UK Internet shoppers, who will each receive an average of 33 parcels and spend an average of £1,600 over the Internet. The amount set to be spent is equivalent to nine times that taken by London's West End.
In 2006, online sales reached £30.2 billion, compared with £19.2 billion in 2005, the IMRG reported.
