'Green' milk bottle tested by supermarket
An environmentally friendly milk bottle is being trialled in a major supermarket, and could be rolled out nationwide if successful.
The Greenbottle is a cardboard, recyclable bottle which has a biodegradable bag inside that holds the milk.
It is being produced in Suffolk and filled with locally-sourced milk. The bottle is being piloted at ASDA in Lowestoft in Suffolk and if it proves successful with customers, the supermarket plans to launch it nationally, the Eastern Daily Press reported.
More than 100,000 tonnes of plastic bottles are sent to landfill annually in the UK.
