Government cash for social enterprises

Funding for health and social care social enterprises across England has been announced by the Government.

The 26 schemes will share £1.4 million to pay for start up costs and support, including business advice and training.

These social enterprises are in the health and social care sector and the lessons they learn will be shared with similar organisations, so other groups can learn from their experience.

Jonathan Bland, Chief Executive of the Social Enterprise Coalition, said:

"I believe it's the ability of social enterprises to combine a public service ethos with commercial efficiency that sets them apart."
