Internet advertising grows at rapid rate
Spending on online advertising is poised to overtake radio advertising in the next year.
By 2009, online advertising will account for 8.7% of the total amount spent on advertising worldwide, up from 5.8% at the moment, according to figures from media buying agency ZenithOptimedia. This growth rate will be six times faster than traditional media.
ZenithOptimedia forecast that online advertising would jump ahead of radio - currently the fourth-largest advertising medium - 12 months earlier than it had initially predicted.
