Bad recruitment procedures harm business reputations

Businesses have been warned of the negative impact bad recruitment procedures can have on their brand.

Research by Capital Consulting reveals that people who are treated poorly by a business as a jobseeker are likely to boycott that firm in future and broadcast their bad experiences to friends and family.

Results showed that 53% of jobseekers would actively avoid buying from a business that treated them poorly in a recruitment scenario, while 23% claimed they would never buy from the business again. A rising number of people are willing to spread negative views about a business after a bad recruitment experience, with 10% passing the news on to ten or more people and 1% venting their grievances on Internet blogs.

A Capital Consulting spokesperson claims businesses must be aware of these risks when recruiting staff:

"If you treat people poorly during the recruitment process you could lose them as customers and they are only too happy to tell others about their bad experience with your organisation too.
