Young entrepreneurs lack support from banks

Four out of ten young would-be entrepreneurs claim they have struggled finding support from the high street banks.

In a poll for Shell LiveWIRE, 41% said banks provided a poor service for young people thinking of going it alone. They were more likely to approach family members to ask for financial support.

Finding financial support was considered the biggest problem for those considering self-employment.

The poll of 1,000 also found that TV programmes such as Dragons' Den had provided the most motivation for young business people to start their own enterprises, Freelance UK reported.
