'Growing salad' is fresh new food trend
A new trend is set to take off in food stores and supermarkets this summer - the growing salad.
Living Salads are exactly that - growing baby salad leaves that can be left on the windowsill, watered and used when needed.
The mixed lettuce leaves are being grown under glass in Yorkshire and are pesticide-free. They cost less than £2 per pack and last for up to ten days with water. This means they have a much longer shelf-life than the traditional bagged salads sold in supermarkets, as well as appealing to consumers concerned about the freshness of their food.
