Toolkit to help businesses manage mums-to-be
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has launched a toolkit to help businesses deal with pregnant employees.
The pregnancy toolkit aims to to educate small businesses.
Its launch follows a survey by the EOC and Netmums, which found just four out of ten pregnant workers thought their bosses knew how to manage them.
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) responded to the survey by urging the Government to provide more advice and help to teach small firms how to handle pregnant workers.
Director-general David Frost said:
"This survey highlights that small businesses in particular can sometimes find it difficult to meet the varying needs of their pregnant staff either due to lack of awareness of current legislation or the financial cost of temporary cover."
