Dragon's advice for aspiring business owners

One of the Dragons' Den panellists says that people who want to start their own business don't need to bother inventing their own ideas - they can just come up with a new spin on someone else's.

Theo Paphitis, writing for The Sunday Times, claimed:

"I've never had an original idea in my life! But I have pinched a few from other people and made them work for me."

The entrepreneur, who turned around stationery firm Ryman and lingerie chain La Senza, is writing a series of weekly advice articles aimed at aspiring business owners.

He stressed that people must be realistic about their ideas:

"As an entrepreneur, the easiest person to fool is yourself. You have to be honest with the person who matters most - you."
