Virtual networking is on the rise

Business owners who work from home may already be doing it, but it seems 'virtual networking' is the latest trend to hit the business world.

The idea, being promoted by the Ozone Business Network, allows small firms to make contacts in their sector globally, rather than simply in their locality.

Ozone founder Peter Bennett told The Times:

"Virtual networks are ideal for people in the professional services industries or for people like entrepreneurs looking to find like-minded people and build businesses quickly."

Enterprises are using software and tools like Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone system Skype rather than arranging face-to-face meetings, although many networks do still meet in the flesh as well.
