Alison Best has developed a website that will enable her to reach an international customer base. She is also planning an exhibition to show off her unique work. The unusual style of the art is anticipated to have particular appeal in the Far East.

Alison starts each piece with an original drawing, which becomes a delicate hand-cut stencil, and the eventual piece is either inked or gilded.

Alison told icNewcastle:

"Initially, I was selling to family and friends. When word spread and interest was coming from galleries and retailers as well as individuals, I was encouraged to start a business."
