Students provide Welsh water for Africa

Social entrepreneurs - or, as they like to call themselves, 'philantrocapitalists' - are attempting to help people in Africa by selling Welsh mineral water.

A group of Cardiff University students, led by James Wheeler, have started the firm Two Distribute to sell bottled Powys water, with money from each sale going to PlayPumps International.

The organisation builds and installs merry-go-rounds in African villages, and each time they are used, water is pumped from bore holes deep underground.

James told icWales:

"The average African spends five hours a day collecting water - time that could be better spent on education, having fun and agriculture."
