North east bucks business collapse trend

Figures from Deloitte reveal that the north east of England saw a reduction in the number of businesses going to the wall in 2006.

The north east region saw a 2% reduction in the number of businesses folding, but UK-wide figures showed that the number of businesses going into administration in 2006 increased by 26% on the previous year's figures, as reported on icNewcastle:

Ian Brown, of Deloitte Newcastle, said:

"The north east has bucked the trend mainly due to the majority of increases in administration occurring in recruitment and financial services and the region does not have many businesses in these sectors."
