Businesses must be prepared for a crisis

It's crucial for all businesses to have a plan covering the main risks they face, and how they would manage in a crisis.

That's according to Sir John Stevens, the former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.

Writing in The Scotsman, he said that he was "continually surprised" by how many businesses had not factored in how to deal with problems ranging from fraud to terrorism.

Sir John, who is also chairman of the security group Quest, said:

"An effective crisis management programme is imperative in this day and age."
