The annual Waitrose Small Producer Awards are divided into five different categories, with the winner of each standing to win £5,000. The Supreme Champion will scoop a further £5,000.

Waitrose regional and local food buyer Graham Cassie told This Is Money:

"The demand for high-quality food produced by specialist and dedicated small businesses has never been higher.

"In the last half-year, sales of local food in our shops have grown by 92%."
