Businesses want migrant workers
Migrant workers are providing a vital boost to the UK's economy, according to business leaders.
A study by the Institute of Directors (IoD) found that the majority of members believed migrant workers "significantly outperform" the UK workforce when it comes to productivity, education and skills, work ethic, reliability and the amount of sick leave they take.
Some 65% were keen to encourage immigration to alleviate skills shortages and increase the number of workers available.
The IoD said its report showed that the "UK workforce has got to raise its game on skills and performance".
