Farmers' green futures

Farmers are being given advice on going green - because they're responsible for 7% of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions.

A collaboration between Forum for the Future, the National Farmers' Union (NFU), the Applied Research Forum (ARF) and the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) is putting together the 12-month project Tomorrow's Climate Today's Challenge.

NFU president Peter Kendall told the BBC that more investment was needed to assess the effects of climate change on farming.

The new project, launched at the Oxford Farming Conference, will look at how farmers can take advantage of climate change, as well as how they can tackle the more environmentally unfriendly aspects of their industry.
