Farewell to the floppy disk
Businesses that back up their data on floppy disks had better think about changing their ways - because the floppy won't be around for much longer.
PC World says it won't stock any more of the disks once its current supplies have been sold.
The floppy disk has been around for 36 years but has been made almost obsolete by the introduction of CDs, memory cards and memory sticks.
PC's World's Bryan Magrath told Ananova:
"The sound of the computer's floppy disk drive will be as closely associated with 20th century computing as the sound of a computer dialling in to the Internet."
