Business fraud hits high
Business fraud increased to a record high in 2006 - but most enterprises aren't bothering to tell the police about the problem.
According to accountants BDO Stoy Hayward's annual FraudTrack report, business fraud increased by 40% last year to be valued at £1.37 billion.
But that just takes into account the estimated 15% of businesses that report fraud, The Scotsman reported.
The majority of UK business fraud involves high-value VAT or 'carousel' fraud.
