The founder of the online encyclopaedia, which allows users to write and edit the content, is launching free tools via Wikia.com - the commercial counterpart of Wikipedia.

Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales told Reuters:

"It is open-source software and open content. We will be providing the computer hosting for free, and the publisher can keep the advertising revenue."
