Welsh women stride ahead
A pocket of Wales is bucking the national trend, with more women than men starting their own businesses.
A report by the National Entrepreneurship Observatory found that women were forging ahead with their own businesses in the Powys and Ceredigion areas.
Co-author Professor David Brooksbank told icWales:
"In Mid Wales, the rate of entrepreneurial activity amongst women was measured at 6%, considerably higher than for the rest of Wales (3.5%) and the UK (3.8%)."The proportion of women managing their own established business in Mid Wales (6.5%) is also three times the rate for both the rest of Wales and the UK."
