But small business owners are being urged to think carefully in 2007 about climate change and whether it could have an effect on their enterprises.

Public demand has seen larger organisations taking active measures to reduce carbon emissions, and small businesses are now being urged to follow suit.

Dave Robertson, of Bibby Financial Services, told Online Recruitment magazine:

"The reality is we all have our part to play, even smaller businesses can make a difference.

"It doesn't have to be on a large scale or prove expensive, even simple things like recycling waste, as you would at home, can make a real difference. Turning off lights and switching off computers at the end of the day will not only save energy, it will also save the business money..."
