Animal-tastic business idea nets big profits
A pet-loving business owner is celebrating after his website became the UK's biggest Internet-based pet supplier.
Mark Berriman, of South Shields, Tyne and Wear, was inspired to start Pet-supermarket.co.uk three years ago, when he couldn't find the items he wanted for his dog online.
The business has expanded quickly but Mark, who is 26, has found it difficult to raise the amount of capital he needs from the banks because of his age and because he does not have a track record in business. He's now looking to 'loan' a large plot of land to add to his warehouse capacity.
The business is now Parcelforce's biggest regional customer.
Mark told icNewcastle:
"I've been assigned my own seven-and-a-half ton Parcelforce truck that makes up to three visits a day."
