Tesco icon backs small shops
As Dotty Turnbull in the series of adverts for Tesco, Prunella Scales helped the supermarket chain become huge - and now she's turning her attention to saving small shops near her home in London.
The actress is backing a campaign to save the independent shops in Northcote Road in Battersea, where several local businesses have already closed.
She told This Is Money:
"I'm not against supermarkets, but I don't think they should take over, there should be room for individual traders and market traders."Northcote Road is a very special area."
