That lightbulb moment
The Government's latest idea to save the planet could mean that 'ordinary' lightbulbs might have to come off the shelves within three years.
The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is consulting about getting rid of traditional lightbulbs and replacing them with energy-efficient alternatives - something the European Union (EU) may well legislate on in the near future.
A Defra spokeswoman told the BBC:
"In the UK, we are working with retailers and manufacturers on how we could remove inefficient lighting products from UK shelves in advance of European regulations."
