It's been created by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), and the conciliation service Acas.

The HSE reckons that sickness rates go down where managers have been trained in how to manage absences. But it says few small firms train their staff to deal with the issue.
