Pub gets the hobbit habit

A pub landlord is hoping for an influx of hobbits - or at least Lord of the Rings fans - thanks to a unique marketing method.

The Bell Inn in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, has been named as the real-life inspiration behind the fictional Prancing Pony, where some hobbits stopped for a jar.

The pub was awarded a print by the J.R.R. Tolkien Society, which ratified the connection.

Landlord Keith Pendry told The Publican:

"For me as a publican, it's a value selling point. We get lots of tourists anyway, and since I put up the print there's been huge interest."
