'Critical' PC patches released

Microsoft has released six patches to cover software security problems, five of which it classes as 'critical'.

The critical updates are for the Internet Explorer browser and the sixth patch is for Microsoft Agent technology in Windows.

The patches are designed to cover security vulnerabilities which could allow remote attackers to take over users' computers without their knowledge, Computer Weekly reported.
