Steve Morton, who owns New Scarborough Fisheries in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, thought someone was pulling his leg when he received a letter from his local council. He's been told to check that his extractor fan is working properly.

He told the BBC:

"All I know is that we keep everything as clean as possible and to every standard that we should do. I didn't think there was a problem. But I'm open to advice.

"If anybody can tell me how to make fish and chips not smell of fish and chips, I'm grateful."
