Welly warm boots

We've reported a lot about mumpreneurs recently, but now a 'dadpreneur' is making the news.

Just like the many mothers who have started businesses inspired by their children's needs, Cumbrian hill farmer Simon Wood came up with The Warm Welly Company because his two-year-old twin boys complained about cold toes in their wellingtons during the spring lambing season.

Simon felt guilty because he had neoprene-lined wellies and was "as warm as toast", but it seemed no one made the same type of boots in small sizes.

So he designed a smaller version of the boots and went to China to have them made.

He told icNewcastle:

"I had to go on a business course and find out all about importing, websites, marketing and PR, but now it's all systems go."

The wellies are available up to a size two but Simon is hoping to develop a range in larger sizes.
