Truffling idea

A former restaurateur is reaping the dividends of following his truffle-growing dream to France.

Dick Pyle is converting land he bought in Gascony into a truffle farm by planting oak trees, which he is selling to investors. He expects to start production in two years.

The trees are going for £135 each, with an annual upkeep of £35. Owners can visit, find the truffles and eat them or be paid for them.

So far, he has attracted 200 backers from 18 countries, The Independent reported.
