The Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) both came out of the survey by the Birmingham Post as "could do betters". A massive 83% of firms said neither organisation benefited them "a lot or a little".

The top business support organisation in the area was the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce & Industry - but it hardly won a ringing endorsement, with just over four out of ten firms saying it helped them.
