Keep it cool

The extra rain associated with global warming is helping a frozen food business to save money.

Reed Boardall needs a continual supply of water to keep its cold store at a constant temperature. For the last five years, it has been collecting rainwater on the roof instead of taking it all from the mains supply.

It's now extending the water capture capacity.

Managing director Garry Tilburn said:

"All our cold stores are connected to the rainwater reservoir. We also use recycled water for washing our vehicles.

"Combining rainwater with our own back-up borehole, we have reduced our consumption from the main water supply by 95%."
