You're probably not as environmentally savvy as you could be, if a survey by the British Standards Institute (BSI) is correct.

It reckons 70% of businesses are worried about the cost of energy, nearly half are concerned about waste management and a third are anxious about rising carbon emissions - but nearly a third haven't bothered to put together an environmental management system to monitor how they're doing.

Mike Low, director of BSI British Standards, said:

"We all know time is running out to take action on the environment. It's encouraging to see that companies recognise the social and business benefits of going green but we've clearly still got some way to go.

"None of us can afford to wait another ten years when advice and guidance based on years of business experience is readily available to use now."
