Pensions help for self-employed
Small business owners and sole traders are being offered pensions advice via a dedicated phone line.
The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) is launching the helpline - 0845 602 7021 - because of the shortfall in pension provision among sole traders and other small enterprises.
More than half of self-employed women don't have a private pension, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Business owners are also eligible for less from the state when they retire.
TPAS's Malcolm McLean said:
"We are well aware of the disadvantages the self-employed and small business owners face in getting advice on pensions."I believe our new helpline will fulfil a real need for this important sector of the working population."
