Cash is still king

We keep hearing that cash will soon be no more as the march of the plastic card and online trading takes over from pounds and pence. But that may not be the case...

A European-wide study of our attitude to cash has revealed that Brits want to retain cash as their main payment method.

The survey, carried out - not surprisingly - by the European Security Transport Association (ESTA), said around 74% of Britons want cash to be the main payment method, despite the increasing use of electronic payment means.

ESTA says it's “crucial that consumers retain the right to pay for goods and services in cash, Ananova reported.
