Dean Harris has taken over AI Roberts in West Kirby, Merseyside, and now has plans to expand the business, looking at developing an online presence to cater for the increasing popularity of healthy eating.

He told icLiverpool:

"For a long time independent butchers were under threat, faced with competition from the big supermarkets.

"But over the last few years, we've witnessed a big resurgence in custom. With healthy eating now more than ever on the agenda, people are looking to find fresh produce, and you simply don't get the same quality when you buy from a supermarket."
