West Kilbride Craft & Design Town won the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) annual Enterprising Britain competition.

The town used enterprise to regenerate itself, create jobs and pull the local community together, all under the theme of craft and design.

Trade and Industry Secretary Alistair Darling said:

"West Kilbride has embraced a real 'can do' attitude to successfully regenerate its town centre, helping to transform the whole community."
